Controls and keybinds

The real defaults from our server. All of them can be rebound in FiveM settings.

1 Essentials

The six keys you actually need on day one.

  • 1.1 TAB Inventory
  • 1.2 F1 Show or hide the hotbar
  • 1.3 Left Alt Third eye. Look at a thing and interact with it. Most of the city runs through this key.
  • 1.4 Z Radial menu
  • 1.5 M Phone
  • 1.6 I HUD and settings menu

2 Talking to people

Voice is proximity based. Radio is separate and needs a radio item.

  • 2.1 Just talk proximity voice is always on
  • 2.2 ` (backtick) Cycle whisper, normal, shout
  • 2.3 Caps Lock Hold to talk on the radio
  • 2.4 = Open the radio
  • 2.5 . (full stop) Next radio channel
  • 2.6 Delete Hang up a phone call without opening the phone
  • 2.7 T Chat. L toggles the chat box on and off.

3 Moving about

Movement, emotes and the small stuff that makes scenes look right.

  • 3.1 F5 Emote menu
  • 3.2 K Change stance / crouch
  • 3.3 X Cancel the current emote or action. Also struggles against a ziptie.
  • 3.4 G Play the emote effect, or use the bag in your holster
  • 3.5 U Seatbelt on or off
  • 3.6 E Interact: fuel a car, use a lift, start pushing a vehicle
  • 3.7 Left Shift Second push-vehicle key, and nitrous in a tuned car

4 In a vehicle

Driving, doors and the bits people ask about in chat every night.

  • 4.1 Left Alt on a vehicle Third eye for doors, boot, glovebox and engine
  • 4.2 Left Shift (hold) Nitrous, if the car is fitted with it
  • 4.3 E Push a stopped vehicle
  • 4.4 Seat shuffle and engine toggle live in the radial menu (Z)
  • 4.5 H Search for keys in a vehicle you do not own

5 Emergency services

Police, EMS and fire keys. Only bound while you are in the right vehicle or on duty.

  • 5.1 Q Lights, no siren
  • 5.2 Left Alt Siren, press again to cycle tones
  • 5.3 Numpad keys Radar antennas and plate readers, front and rear
  • 5.4 X Stop escorting a suspect
  • 5.5 H Stretcher menu. Hold E for the doors, G to load, X to move it.
  • 5.6 MDT and the duty locker are on the third eye at every station

6 If a key does not work

Nine times out of ten it is a stale binding from another server.

  • 6.1 Open Settings, Key Bindings, FiveM and search the action by name.
  • 6.2 A binding you set on another server sticks. Clear it and set it again.
  • 6.3 Some keys only bind while you hold the right item or sit in the right vehicle.
  • 6.4 Still stuck after that? Open a ticket and tell us the key and what you expected.
